Welcome to the wonderful world of knitting!
In Knitting 101 you'll learn the skills to make a cowl, as well as follow simple patterns for basic knitting projects. Learn to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off. We'll be knitting the Oats Cowl from TinCanKnits. You can download and print your free pattern here.
No experience necessary. Class fee includes starter yarn and needles.

6 (10, 10)" tall by 19 (23, 48)" around
|materials||75 (200, 400) yards worsted / aran wt yarn
Malabrigo Rios (you'll get to choose your colors!)**
|gauge||18 sts and 22 rows / 4" in stockinette stitch
14 sts and 28 rows / 4" in garter stitch
(don't worry about gauge if this is your first knitting project)
|suggested needles||US #8 / 5mm 16 (16, 32) inch circular needle|
|notes||The oats cowl is knit in the round from bottom to top.|
**You're welcome to leave a note at checkout letting us know which color you'd like to knit your cowl with. You can find color options for Rios here. Otherwise, you can stop by Scratch anytime, or come to class early and select your yarn, and we'll wind it for you!
