Kemper Wray is the dyer and owner of Junkyarn Hand-Dyed Yarns, based in Raleigh, North Carolina. She began knitting in college, but has always been a creative person, maker, sewist, painter, and writer. Kemper began dyeing yarn as a hobby during a stressful period in her life, but went on to dye as a full time job soon after. She believes that yarn with inspired origins makes beautiful fiber products. Junkyarn presents interpretations of the personalities, ideologies, and iconography of female-identifying individuals of various faiths, ethnic backgrounds, sexualities, and professions. From actresses to fictional heroines, Junkyarn colorways are inspired by all women.
