During our unexpected downtime earlier this summer, we had a chance to do some soul-searching about who we are as a company and what we want our contribution to be to the maker community.
The heart and soul of Scratch has always been about community, and how it can be created and strengthened through difference and experimentation. The fiber community is a diverse place, yet we see the same old standards again and again. The more we as a business have gotten away from those standards, the more we--and our community--have grown. We wanted our new subscription service to reflect that.
And so, Cast-On Club was born as an opportunity to showcase a new indie dyer each month, with priority given to underrepresented dyers and designers who are doing great work that might not ever show up on the front page of Ravelry.
Cast-On Club will feature a new indie dyer each month. We don't set guidelines: they choose the base, they choose the colorway. It's an opportunity for them to shine doing what they do best. To foster community, we will also be running in-shop classes and online Knit- and Crochet-alongs in our facebook group, fiberfolk.
The first month's subscription to Cast-on Club will be shipping in October. It will feature Lolabean Yarn Co. She's been teasing us with b&w pictures of the special colorway she's dyed up:
We hope you'll join us for a knitting adventure!
